Sint Maarten has long been the Eastern Caribbean’s nightlife capital, and nowhere more so than the Simpson Bay strip on the Dutch side.

Welfare Road — The Strip

Welfare Road runs along the lagoon shore and is lined with beach bars, restaurants, and clubs that operate well past 2am. The scene starts around 9pm and peaks on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Boo Boo Jam: Laid-back beach bar with live reggae and calypso. Beloved by locals and long-term expats. Wednesday night “Jump Up” is unmissable.

Sheer Restaurant & Bar: Rooftop bar with pool and views over Simpson Bay. Popular for sundowners and the bar scene transitions smoothly to late-night.

Casinos

Sint Maarten has more casinos per capita than Las Vegas. Casino Royale (Maho) is the largest, with 24-hour slot machines, blackjack, roulette, and poker. Dress code applies after 7pm. Adjacent to the airport, it captures incoming and departing tourists.

Casino Atlantis (Cupecoy) attracts a more local crowd and hosts weekly poker tournaments.

Beach Club Circuit

Karakter (Simpson Bay Beach): Transitions from beach bar to late-night hotspot Thursday through Sunday with visiting DJs.

Sunset Beach Bar (Maho): Night flights past the rooftop terrace and plane spotting remain popular even after dark.

The Sint Maarten Heineken Concert

During Heineken Regatta week (March), the Heineken Village transforms Great Bay into a massive outdoor concert venue. Past headliners have included Caribbean artists alongside international acts.
