The Marina Royale Market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings is the island’s best. Local farmers, vendors of Guadeloupe spices, and artisans selling créole jewelry fill the waterfront. Arrive before 8am for the best selection of tropical produce, fresh fish, and handmade goods.

Fort Louis

Perched above the harbor, Fort Louis dates from 1789 and offers 360-degree views of Simpson Bay Lagoon, Anguilla, and the Atlantic. The 15-minute climb from the market is rewarded with the island’s best panoramic photography opportunities.

Dining on the Waterfront

The Marina Royale terrace hosts excellent French-Caribbean restaurants: Le Cottage, La Main à la Pâte, and Bistrot Caraïbes represent the island’s Franco-Créole culinary tradition. Fresh lobster from local fishermen appears on most menus.

Unlike Philipsburg’s duty-free malls, Marigot favors boutique shopping: French cosmetics, Créole jewelry, and fashion from Guadeloupe and Martinique designers.
